Máté
About Máté
A family-run estate nestled in the Santa Restituta area of Montalcino, Tuscany, Máté is owned by author Ferenc Máté and his wife, artist and winemaker Candace. The winery is situated on land that was once a Roman vineyard 2,000 years ago. The couple restored an abandoned 13th-century friary and transformed the surrounding 17 acres into an organic vineyard. They cultivate Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Merlot, producing wines that reflect the diverse terroir of the estate. Their wines are expressive, true to their origins, and highly sought-after.
Why We Love Máté
We love Máté’s soulful combination of history, artistry, and meticulous winemaking. The estate brings a personal, hands-on approach to every aspect of production. The wines are rich, elegant, and expressive—beautiful reflections of the land and the people behind them. Máté delivers wines that feel both luxurious and deeply authentic, especially their range of Brunello di Montalcino’s.
