2022 Máté Mania Cabernet Sauvignon
Tasting Notes
Dark garnet with a dense core. Aromas of cassis, cedar, and crushed mint rise from the glass, joined by touches of graphite and black pepper. The palate is bold and structured, offering firm tannins, deep fruit concentration, and a long, savory finish marked by spice and minerality.
About Máté
A family-run estate nestled in the Santa Restituta area of Montalcino, Tuscany, Máté is owned by author Ferenc Máté and his wife, artist and winemaker Candace. The winery is situated on land that was once a Roman vineyard 2,000 years ago. The couple restored an abandoned 13th-century friary and transformed the surrounding 17 acres into an organic vineyard. They cultivate Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Merlot, producing wines that reflect the diverse terroir of the estate. Their wines are expressive, true to their origins, and highly sought-after.
