Pagliarese
About Pagliarese
Pagliarese is a storied Chianti Classico estate. With origins dating back to the 13th century, it was once one of the region’s most respected producers, gaining particular acclaim in the 1970s under the guidance of legendary Sangiovese specialist Giulio Gambelli. After a period of decline, the estate was acquired in the 1990s by the Poggiali family of Fèlsina, who embarked on a thoughtful and meticulous revival. Using massal selections from original vines and adhering to traditional practices—including blends of Sangiovese with Canaiolo and Mammolo—Pagliarese now produces wines that are both classically styled and vibrantly expressive. The result is a lineup of elegant Chianti Classico bottlings that honor the estate’s deep history while offering purity, balance, and exceptional character.
Why We Love Pagliarese
We love Pagliarese because it represents everything we admire in a Chianti Classico estate: deep historical roots, a thoughtful revival, and an unwavering commitment to authenticity. The wines strike that perfect balance between rustic charm and refined elegance, offering vibrant fruit, earthy complexity, and a sense of place that feels timeless. Pagliarese reminds us that great wine doesn’t need to be modernized—it just needs to be respected.
