2019 Máté Brunello di Montalcino - Normale
Tasting Notes
Garnet with orange-brick hues. The bouquet opens with dried cherry, rose petal, and forest herbs, layered with hints of leather and spice. The palate is elegant and finely knit, showing restrained fruit, silky tannins, and a firm acid spine. The finish is long and graceful, echoing with earthy nuance and classic structure.
About Máté
A family-run estate nestled in the Santa Restituta area of Montalcino, Tuscany, Máté is owned by author Ferenc Máté and his wife, artist and winemaker Candace. The winery is situated on land that was once a Roman vineyard 2,000 years ago. The couple restored an abandoned 13th-century friary and transformed the surrounding 17 acres into an organic vineyard. They cultivate Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Merlot, producing wines that reflect the diverse terroir of the estate. Their wines are expressive, true to their origins, and highly sought-after.
