2020 Máté Veltha Brunello di Montalcino Selezione
Tasting Notes
Deep ruby with refined clarity. Aromas of dark berry, sweet tobacco, and dried fig unfold with notes of clove and balsamic. On the palate, it is powerful yet balanced, with concentrated fruit, velvety tannins, and a layered, spice-driven finish that promises longevity and evolution.
About Máté
A family-run estate nestled in the Santa Restituta area of Montalcino, Tuscany, Máté is owned by author Ferenc Máté and his wife, artist and winemaker Candace. The winery is situated on land that was once a Roman vineyard 2,000 years ago. The couple restored an abandoned 13th-century friary and transformed the surrounding 17 acres into an organic vineyard. They cultivate Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Merlot, producing wines that reflect the diverse terroir of the estate. Their wines are expressive, true to their origins, and highly sought-after.
