2023 Castello di Farnetella Chianti Colli Senesi
Tasting Notes
Ruby red with youthful brightness. Aromas of red plum, violets, and soft spice emerge alongside a hint of wild herbs. The palate is lively and approachable, showing red berry fruit, fresh acidity, and soft, rounded tannins. A clean, savory finish makes this a charming and food-friendly wine.
About Castello di Farnetella
Castello di Farnetella is a historic gem tucked into the Colli Senesi hills of Tuscany, with origins that trace back to the 5th and 6th centuries AD. Its medieval castle has been destroyed and rebuilt multiple times over centuries of conflict between Florence and Siena, lending the estate an air of enduring spirit and character. Acquired by the Poggiali family—renowned owners of Fèlsina—in 1981, Farnetella now operates with a strong focus on organic farming and thoughtful winemaking. Perched on a ridge between the Chiana and Ombrone valleys, the estate enjoys a prime location with varying elevations and soils. The estate’s wines—primarily built around Sangiovese, with accents of Merlot—are approachable yet complex, beautifully expressing the unique terroir of the region with elegance and depth.
