2019 Castello di Uviglie 1491 - Albarossa Piemonte DOC
Tasting Notes
Opaque ruby with deep purple edges. Aromas of ripe black cherry, plum skin, and black pepper are layered with hints of violet and dark chocolate. The palate is dense and richly textured, with powerful tannins supporting flavors of blackberry, licorice, and toasted spice. The finish is long and bold, with a warming, earthy complexity.
About Castello di Uviglie
Castello di Uviglie is a historic estate in Monferrato, Piedmont, with roots dating back to 1491—one of the older wineries in Piedmont. Today, it’s led by the Bonzano family. The winery is known for its dedication to native varieties like Barbera, Grignolino, and Albarossa, producing wines that are vibrant, expressive, and true to their terroir. Aging takes place in a well-preserved ancient quarry beneath the castle, creating ideal conditions for their refined reds.
