2022 Domaine Aux Moines Savennieres Roche Aux Moines AOC
Tasting Notes
Golden straw with a slight green hue. The bouquet is layered and complex, offering quince, beeswax, white flowers, and a hint of flint. The palate is textured and powerful, with stone fruit, citrus oil, and a streak of salinity. A long, structured finish leaves an impression of depth and tension.
About Domaine Aux Moines
Domaine aux Moines is a historic and highly regarded estate in the Loire Valley, located in the prestigious Savennières-Roche-aux-Moines appellation. Founded in 1981 by Monique Laroche and now run by her daughter Tessa, the Domaine is known for producing deeply mineral, age-worthy Chenin Blanc. Farmed organically and with biodynamic practices, the vines benefit from ideal south and southwest exposures overlooking the Loire River. Tessa’s meticulous approach—low yields, hand-harvesting in multiple passes, native yeast fermentations, and aging in a mix of tank and oak—results in wines of precision, energy, and structure. Domaine aux Moines is a benchmark for thoughtful, terroir-driven winemaking in one of the Loire’s most noble white wine regions.
